# Panta 1.0.0

Screenshots and screen recordings, from the Mac menu bar.

Needs macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Apple Silicon and Intel both work.

## Install

1. **Unzip, then drag Panta into your Applications folder.** It has to
   live there for "launch at login" to work.

2. **Double-click it.** macOS refuses to open it and says it cannot
   check it for malicious software. That is expected. I built this
   myself and have not paid Apple's $99/year fee to have it notarised.

3. **Open System Settings > Privacy & Security**, scroll down to the
   message about Panta, and click **Open Anyway**. Confirm.

   One time only. It opens normally from then on.

4. **Take a capture.** macOS asks for Screen Recording permission.
   Grant it, then quit and reopen Panta, because macOS does not apply
   that permission to an app that is already running.

## Using it

Panta lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. Look for the camera icon.

| Shift-Option-4 | drag a region, or press Space to pick a window |
| Shift-Option-5 | start and stop a recording |

Screenshots open in an editor for arrows, boxes, text and blur.

Microphone and camera are asked for separately, and only if you turn
those on.

## Sharing a link

Click **Share** in the editor. Panta uploads the capture and puts a
link on your clipboard, ready to paste into Slack, Jira or Notion.

Sign in with Google the first time. Any @intellum.com account works.
Anyone else, ask me to add your address.

Links stop working 365 days after they are made.

## Updates

Panta checks for a new version once a day and offers it in the menu.
Nothing downloads until you click it, and it installs and relaunches
itself from there.

Updates need you to be signed in, the same sign-in as sharing. Panta
is not a public download, so this first copy has to come from me, but
every version after it arrives on its own.
